Step Away from the Solution: Uncovering the True Business Requirements
This event is being held at the Veterans Memorial Complex in Culver City on 20 March 2018.
Featured Speakers: Erika Cilengir, CBAP and Yvonne Hull, CBAP
Capturing business requirements is at the heart of the business analyst’s role. When effective, requirements align with a business case and guide a transformation to a new and better business. But requirements elicitation isn’t always a straight-forward process. In fact, with a few quick missteps and the pressure of a deadline, you can easily find yourself inadvertently handing the solution team …well… a “solution,” rather than a true set of business requirements.
In this presentation, we will explore:
- Differences between a business requirement and a solution
- How you might find yourself on the path to documenting a solution
- What steps you can take to ensure you are capturing the true business requirements
In addition, we will cover tips for working with stakeholders intent on a particular solution. We will also provide exercises to reinforce key learnings.
